At All Saints Primary school, we want to be happy and enthusiastic learners of Art and Design and to be motivated to achieve their full potential. We aim to provide students with a rich and diverse learning experience. The intent of our curriculum is to develop the students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes in Art and Design, providing them with the tools they need to become confident and creative artists.
By using Kapow Primary’s Art and Design scheme of work we aim to inspire pupils and develop their confidence to experiment and create their own works of art. Our scheme is written by experts in their field and designed to provide students with as many opportunities as possible to express their ideas and opinions about the world, grow their talents and interests, and express themselves, as well as learning about art and artists throughout history and across cultures.
At All Saints we regularly enrich our Art curriculum with visits to London’s art galleries and make direct links to a wide variety of art forms through class topics. Students also explore the history and cultural context of the area, and how this has influenced the development of art in the region. By doing so, the curriculum can be more engaging and meaningful to the students, helping them to develop their knowledge, skills, and creativity in the visual arts.
We realise that God’s fullness for us is shown in the gift of creation. This first value takes us back to God, the giver of abundant life. Now more than ever, our call to steward God’s creation is of upmost importance: not least to our young people. We focus on creating a community in which all are known, valued and given space to thrive and find abundance. From that secure base within a safe environment, we encourage our children to look out to the world with compassion. With the skills they have learnt, they can take the abundance of their education out to life beyond our school grounds, with the confidence to speak out and excel.
